J-1 VISA
J-1 비자는 미국에서 본인의 전공에 적합한 경험을 하기 원하는 외국인 지원자들에게 무수한 기회를 제공합니다.
다각적인 프로그램을 통해 지원자들은 미국에서 인턴 및 연구 그리고 교수직을 통해 본인의 특기를 시연하거나 수 주에서 수 년의 기간 동안 직업 훈련을 받을 수 있습니다.

Form DS-2019
DS-2019 또는 교환 방문자 자격 증명서 (J-1)는 교환 방문자
프로그램 운영에 사용되는 기본 서류입니다.
DS-2019는 지원자가 미국 J-1 프로그램에 참여할 충분한
자격이 있다는 것을 스폰서가 인정한다는 서류로써, 참여
프로그램에 대한 정보, 시작 날짜/기간, 스폰서 기관의
서명 등이 명시되어 있습니다.
DS-2019를 통해서만 미국 대사관 또는 영사관에서 J 비자
인터뷰를 신청할 수 있습니다.

DS-2019?
스폰서기관은 J-1 프로그램에 신청한 지원자를 선별하고
선정 된 지원자에게만 본 양식을 발행 할 권한이 있습니다.
DS-2019는 J-1 프로그램 스폰서 기관만이 작성하며 발급된
서류를 통해 미국 대사관 또는 영사관에서 J-1 비자를 신청할 수 있습니다.
모든 비이민 비자와 마찬가지로 J-1 비자 발급은 영사관이
미국 대사관 및 영사관에서 비자를 허가해야만 발급이되며,
J-1 프로그램에 지원하여 DS-2019를 수령 하더라도 J-1 비자발급은 영사의 권한에 의해 결정됩니다.

Currently enrolled College/University Students

Trainees obtaining on-time-job training with firms, institutions, and agencies

Professors coming to teach or do research at institutions of higher learning

Research Scholar

International visitors coming for the purpose of travel, observation, consultation, research, training, sharing, or demonstrating specialized knowledge or skills, or participating in organized people-to-people programs
Privileges of J-1

Enter the U.S and participate in exchange visitor program approved by the U.S Department of State

Travel in and out of the U.S or remain in the U.S continuously till the completion of your exchange visitor program

Apply for dependent visas for your spouse as well as unmarried dependent children under 21
-
Work legally in the U.S. if work is part of your approved program or if you receive permission to work from the official program sponsor

Apply for and receive work permits for accompanying relatives
Limitations of J-1

Restrict yourself to studying, working or other wise participating in the special exchange program for which your visa has been approved

First be accepted as a participant in the program approved by the DOS before you apply for J-1 visa

Return to your home country for at least two years before you are permitted to get a Green Card or change to another non-immigrant visa status. This is true if you are an exchange visitor participating in a certain type of program

When you enter the U.S. on an exchange visitor visa, you will usually be admitted for the duration of your program. The final decision on how long you may stay in the U.S. is made by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Inspector at the port of entry/airport.
Yes, you may apply for J1 visa extension, which may be granted as long as it is necessary to complete the program. However, extensions for J-1 are not easy because the length of the stay is usually granted for the period considered reasonable for the type of program.
Exchange visitors participating in certain types of programs may be required to return to their home countries for at least two years before they are permitted to adjust status from J-1 visa to Green Card or apply for change of status. If not subject to the home residency requirement you may change status in the U.S.

학점, 수료증 및 자격증 위주 (교육과정 수료 후 Washington D.C Metropolitan Area에서 인턴십 가능)

프로그램 기간 최대 18개월 (연장불가)
Professor and Research Scholar (교환교수/연구원)

학자 및 각 분야 전문가들을 미국 연계대학으로 초빙하여 자체 연구 과제 실행 혹은 해당 대학의 유학생들을 대상으로 방문 연구원의 대한 커리어 멘토 역할을 수행하는 카테고리

지원자격: 박사 학위 또는 이에 버금가는 전문 학위 소지자 이거나 대학 또는 연구 기관에서 재직중인 교수나 연구원

동반하는 배우자와 만 21세 미만의 자녀들은 동반비자 (J-2) 비자를 받을 수 있으며 자녀의 경우 J-1비자가 만료되는 날까지 미국의 공립학교에서 무상교육 혜택을 받을 수 있음
